Great Forum! I'm happy to join.

I recently got around to replacing my outdoor Nibco 90 faucet. The previous owners broke the handle and bent the stem a little (looks like a bad parking incident). I just got my new Nibco 90 in the mail. I plan on simply replacing the old stem/handle with a new one.

I was easily able to release the old stem from the faucet, but I can't for the life of me, get the stem out of the new one. I know I'm missing something stupid here, but I am desperate.

I am able to unscrew the collar behind the handle, and attempt to unscrew the stem, but to no success. As a side note, I am not able to screw back in the collar piece...not sure why, it's threaded. Thanks for any help...plumbing is not my thing.
