Our SKV50AD1 pump has been running longer than normal. Usual running time is about 10 seconds. I find lately it has been running for 20 or more seconds. You can hear the check valve close which I think means the water has been pumped out but the pump keeps running. Before I tackle the messy job of removing the pump I was just looking for advice on what to do. I already tried moving the pump a little and it did not seem to help much. Thanks in advance.

DO NOT DO ANYTHING, until you find out WHY the pump is still running after the water is pumped out. IT is a simple job of LOOKING into the pit and seeing what happens when the float comes out of the water and SHOULD turn the pump off.

Took the lid off and it looks like the diaphram on the switch is not sealing. Hard to say why withoout pulling the pump - since it is mounted on the lower side of the pump. Did some reading and found that many do not like the diaphram floats. They seem to fail easily. So what are my options for replacements. Can I get any type of new float switch? Or are there some rules due to it being a sewage system?
