New well, need advice?

I have a new well on a property and a new house hooked up to the well. The well is 95 ft deep and the driller estimated flow at 19 gpm with the well filling to 55ft. I have a Franklin Electric 8-stage 3/4hp pump on a variable drive, PSI is just under 50 at rest.

So far the well has flowed approx 500 gallons to my sewage lagoon. I am going to be sending a sample off to be tested tommorow as it is slighty cloudy (Clearing up) and tastes of Iron. In just 1 night I have rust stains in one of the toilets.

I am pretty sure I will need a softener but am concerned about dumping brine from recharging into my lagoon. How big of an issue is the saltwater to a sewage lagoon? Will it kill off the natural process??

Softener selection is pretty limited in my area so I may end up with autotrol or kenmore softener.... we'll see.

I would not be banking on either of the autotrol or sears unit working for a long time..

First look at the water test when it comes back.. iron and hardness and ph ,, that kind of thing. then how many people and number of baths and bedrooms for the house... as that will say what size unit is going to be needed.

If a system is cleaning say every 5 days there should not be much of if any issue with the brine discharge, but if say 24lbs every day or 2 times a day then that will most likely be a challenge for the long run.

There have been a few studies on brine in the septic.. mid west university's have done them.. look them up.

Water sample sent in this morning, It will be a week to get results back from Vancouver.

As for some of the other stuff... 2 adults, 2 little ones, 2 cats, 2 dogs, 2 baths, 3 bedrooms. My pump is rated for 10 GPM, 1 inch line to house reduced to 3/4 pex at house.

My lagoon is 75ft circle at the top and 30-35 ft deep, all clay. I will update when I get results from the test.

You could use all of that 10pgm from the pump if the baths are going and kitchen at the same time..
I would figure on 5-6 people using the system that you put in place.. and look for a system that can do a normal flow of 9gpm..

Depending on the static water level, a 10 gpm pump can deliver more than 10 gpm but, if the peak demand gpm of the fixtures in the house call for more gpm the pump is undersized.

A softener has to treat the max peak demand of the house and 9 gpm is the max constant SFR (service flow rating) of a 1.0 cuft softener which is too small for more than 1.5 regular bathrooms with no big tubs etc..
