JW, you made a slight miscalculation. A 6 milliampere load on a 120 volt circuit is 0.72 watts, not 72 watts. Gotta watch those decimal places.
I really do not know what all the fuss is about. I have never had a GFCI accidentally trip, even when I used to have one on my sump pump. I still keep one on the receptacle for my AC condensate pump.
AFCI, however, now that is a different story. Forget plugging a drywall router or sawzall into my AFCI-protected basement receptacles. They just don't cut the mustard. They'll tolerate the shop vac though.
