What size screws do you recommend into the 3/4 bottom layer I am now putting on? It will be going directly into the joists.

A 2" screw would be fine. Something like this would work. http://www.dhcsupplies.com/store/p/2...s-2-to-3-.html I like square drive since the bit wedges tighter if you push, and doesn't cam out like a typical phillips head. Do use some good construction adhesive on the joists. Then, the screws are there as clamps, almost irrelevant after the glue sets, but do add some strength.

I ended up taking out the crappy 1/2" plywood and have replace it with some nice 3/4"stuff. It has nine layers and both sides are usable. I told them I wanted the strongest stuff they had and they sold it to me. What next? Radiant, thinset, ditra, thinset, and then tile? Or 1/2" ply and then radiant, thinset, ditra, and then thinset and tile? Anyone?
I also sistered the joists and most of them I got about 70% of the joist sistered. Some were more than 80% and some were less than70%.
