Close coupled?
I think that means that the tank is bolted to the bowl.
In the 20's, the tank was mounted on the wall, and connected to the bowl with a pipe.

Does this mean that the distance, from a line between the two seat bolt holes and the tank, is shorter than the distance on other models, or something else? Thanks in advance.

ALL two piece toilets with the tank attached to the bowl are "close coupled". It has nothing to do with the toilet's measurements.
