I know this is an old thread, buy I have a similar situation. I am very unhappy with the sewer professionals who came in broke their Auger in my sewer line and now they say they need to replace that portion on the sewer line at a hefty price. I have already paid them well over $1,000 just to partially clear the sewer. I have had another sewer profession look at the video of the sewer and he informed me that the pipe looked OK and the professional who got his auger stuck in the root, by either being careless of having old equipment. I feel the company needs to come out and remove their auger so either they or another company use a hydro jet to clear the roots. Take a look at the screenshots attached (video was too large) and all opinions are encouraged.
