Minimum trap arm length?

Hi
I've read much about the max trap arm length for a 3" dia toilet discharge being 6 feet. Is there a min trap arm length? Seems if you vent too close to the trap you'll break the necessary siphoning action during flushing.

UPC sets the minimum trap arm lenght as 2 X diameter.

The toilet trap is self siphoning so it does NOT require ANY arm length, in fact the drain can go down directly into the main line if necessary.

Minimum trap arm length?
