I contacted my loal water company. They said the local water pH consistently measures between 7.2 and 7.5

According to my note:
magnesium anode rods -standard anode-identifiable by weld bead on plug
aluminum rod -for hard water. If you live in the area where the water supply has , water condition will react with the aluminum anode rod and form the excessive amounts of aluminum hydroxide. Gel like substance will then reside on the rod and bottom of the tank making the above described noise.
zinc anode rod- a high PH (8+) to deal with egg shell smell. aluminum rods with a small portion of zinc.

Should I just use standard anode rod ?

Thanks.
