Sears does NOT make water heaters. Depending on its age it was either made by State or AO Smith, which are essentially the same now. Either one uses a standard anode rod, and you can use any type which will work, usually the segmented ones are easier to insert.

Well. I ordered from Sear already. I think it is too long. May I cut that short ? Thanks.

The anode rod works by the amount of surface area, so, if you cut it off, it will still work, but not quite as long or as well. Still, likely better than an old one that has been eaten away (they call it a scarficial anode for a reason!).
