Default Siemens three way valve - how much does it restrict water flow?

    Hi Everyone,

I have a 1 inch three way valve (part no. 259-02071 - it is a globe valve). I want to use it in a hydronic application with 1 inch piping (primary circuit) to change the routing of the water from one circuit to another (act as a diverting valve). The Cv on this valve is 10.

My question is: By looking at the valve, it appears it would restrict the water flow quite a bit. Is this a cause for concern? How much would it restrict the water flow?

Thanks for any help you can give me.

Without being able to see the internal porting of the valve there is no way to tell. I would prefer a 3-way ball valve in most cases.
