Default Bathtub Drain Assembly Install When No Access?

I'm putting in a new tub and there is virtually no access to the underside/back parts of the tub once it's in place (my house is on a slab and there's a furnace right next to the front part of the tub).

How do I install the drain assembly? All the instructions say to put it on the tub, then lower the tub into position, but then I'd be blindly connecting to the drain without any way to secure it with a compression fitting.

    Thanks!

Interesting. I'm not sure if you can do it with a compression fitting but my plumber did it this way.

We had no access either from underneath. He measured, measured and measured the entire bath drain assembly. Soldered it on and then lowered the tub in. He did it and I was amazed. I was able to lift the plywood from under the floor but it was about 3 feet away. We filled the tub and watched it drain from the panel. I looked at the connections and didn't see any water leaking.

    Hope this helps.

You must install the trap & trip waste first and then set the tub onto them . It takes some careful measurements.

Can I use compression fittings at all since it will be inaccessible? Or does it all have to be glued?
