I have a deep well in my back yard and I need to extend my driveway somewhat. The question is, how close can I drive to the well housing without damaging it? I will not be paving the area, just putting down gravel.

You can put the driveway right up to the well. Its not going to hurt it.
You may also want to think about putting some bumpers or some kind of post around the well, just to keep cars from hitting the well.

I have a problem with a gravel drive way close to a PVC cased well. The constant driving or parking to near the well can eventually cause preasure against the casing causing it to bend or even crack or break. However if it's steel casing I can't see a problem!

Like Waterwelldude said: I would place some very strong bumper posts around the well because someone well bump into it.
