Thanks. I do my own taxes because it's easy.
It's easy because I am an immigrant living here so I don't get many of the deductions you American citizens do. The only deduction we do get is the State income tax we have already paid. Forget about anything else, because it's not even on the form we are supposed to fill in.
This year, I am about to post a $1500 check off to the IRS on top of what I have already had withheld.
Whereas most of you will be getting refunds.
At least I do not seem to get fined for the huge amount we owe every year.
Oh the joys of being classified as a "non-resident", even though you live here.
The "maximum refund" adverts I see on TV make me laugh. They would not know where to start with me....starting with the concept of "refund". Most of them can't deal with anyone that has to file something different from the standard 1040 form anyway.
At least my contribution should help this Great Government Grow and continue to do good work for America and her children.
Let's hope they use that $1500 to hire another Federal employee. I'll rest well tonight knowing I have sent it to them.
