HI.. I was replacing my hardware in my shower/tub. I really didn't need to turn off my water main because I was just replacing my spout and drain faceplate and handles, but I did anyway. After I turned off my water main, I noticed my tub spout pipe still drips. I knew I had a drip but I thought it was a bad o ring in one of my stem that I would have to replace. But my main is off??

And, all of my valves are in the open position in my house.... my tub/shower stems are open, my sinks are on. My sink does not leak but my tub drips.

Do I have a bad valve at my main shut off???

Probably. NOw, how to fix that gets messier. YOu can't solder a nrew valve in with water on, and you may need to have the water shutoff at the street first. Those don't always shut off completely either. There are tools that will let you resolve that (JetSwet) for one, or a freeze rig, and others.

If it isn't freezing and nasty out, open a hose bibb that is lower than the tub. The water will drip out there rather than where you are working.
