I live on an acreage with septic system and a deep well system and water softener in the basement. The water softener was installed in the house by previous owners. The drain line for the softener is connected to a 1" pipe that goes straight out the basement wall at about 1 foot off the floor. I don't know what this is connected to, but I'm concerned that wherever it is going it is getting filled up with salt and is slowing down the softener regeneration. Do you know where this pipe may be going? I know it is not going to the septic system and don't believe there are any drainage tiles around the foundation that it may be connected to either. The house was built in the '50s. Was there a standard drain method used back then? Maybe something like a cistern tank? Thank you...
