Last week I spent five days in the Enchantments hiking, and doing a little fishing. Sometimes I think I'm getting a bit old to pack 50 pounds up some of these passes. I even went from hauling beer up there and switched to wine for happy hour to save some weight.

This is our happy hour lounge. About 4:30 in the afternoon, it's Miller time.

The elevation was over 8,000 feet for most of this. Some of the high lakes, this is not one of them, the fish are plentiful. A fish on every cast, for about four fish, then move down a hundred feet and do it again.

Gee Mark,
Sorry about that. If'n you want to hike in the Northwest, just let me know.
There's a lot of nice places I go every year.

The Enchantments are near Leavenworth in Washington.
The link above has some more information that my friend Bruce wrote.
When August and September hits, that's the best time to hit the mountains around here.
By the way, there's fish in all the lakes here. Some of the Enchantment lakes you just throw your spoon out and reel them in.

how far a hike was it???

just wondering how far you hiked with a 50lb pack??

I hiked the windriver mountain range in wyoming years ago
doing about 8-10 miles a day.......
for a week with a 50 on my back

looking back on it, I cant say for sure wether it
was a vacation or not...

I could not do that much of a hike today,

rather have a helicopter just drop me off.

We've been out west a couple of times. Utah, Yellowstone, Canadian Rockies, and up to BC and down in your area, taking in the Olympic peninsula. Very very nice pics. I'm limited to the parking lot, but there's lots to see from the road. Hope to get out there again some day.
