Adding a WH to Thermo-Dynamics S-85 boiler

Hello,

I just bought a house that has a 3year old Thermo-Dynamics S-85 boiler with the hot water coil. I am thinking about adding a electric water heater in-line after the boiler to smooth out and boost the the cold to scalding water that comes out of the boiler. Then in the summer I can shut off the boiler and use it as a tempering tank.

I would love to use a gas WH but I don't have that option.

Am I going about this the correct way?

Electric is usually a bad choice for economics. If the boiler is a low-mass type that can be adjusted to only run when there is a need for heat, consider an indirect WH...it operates as its own heating zone. You'd want to disable the internal coil so the boiler could cool off in between calls for heat. There are several discussions here on this same subject...use the search function and read up, then ask questions if you still do.

Dump the tankless coil altogether and get an indirect.
