I have a dumb question. I have a boiler system my question is, once the system is filled and the correct PSI is reached does the gate valve have to be closed or does it need to remain open? The gate valve is before the reducing valve.

The valve should remain open as long as there is a reducing valve between the valve and the boiler.

The system should also have a check valve to prevent stagnant boiler water from potentially back flowing if there were a hiccup.
