I just purchased my home this past May and knew beforehand there was a sump pump under the house - I live on a flood plain and the furnace is housed down there. Just last night I heard a noise that sounded a bit like a coyote howling. I'm guessing the sump pump turned on? Is this noise normal? The only other way I can describe the sound is that it is high pitched at first and then ends with a click. It's been making this sound off and on all day but was much more frequent when it first went on last night. We've had pretty heavy rains these past few weeks. Just wondering if the pump is working properly since I've never heard this noise before. Any information would be appreciated.
