This is of absolutely no interest to anyone, but here it is anyway:
I happened to have to dig out my birth certificate this week. It shows that I was born in the ARMY AIR FORCES REGIONAL STATION HOSPITAL #1, Coral Gables, FL.
Well guess where that hospital was:
In March 1943, The Biltmore Hotel in Coral Gables, Fla., was officially activated as the Army Air Forces Regional Station Hospital No.1. The hotel's exquisite, one-of-a-kind furniture and fixtures, which cost over $1 million in 1925, were placed curbside for trash collection.
Too bad mom didn't score some of that fancy stuff that was thrown out!
