Had an outfit billing themselves as USAA call the other day asking if I wanted to be a panelist in a retirement planning seminar. They claimed they would pay "$150 cash" for the effort. I declined. Don't know if it was a scam or bait and switch, but I really didn't want to spend 1-2 days doing it for $150 anyway.

USAA is a legitimate insurance company. But I would suspect that panel would have little to do with "planning" and a lot to do with buying insurance!
