During construction of our new home, the new whirlpool tub was damaged. The developer has had it reglazed. Is this sufficient or should we insist that he replace it before we close?

Thanks!!

I believe it is fiberglass/acrylic but I am not sure (I have not actually seen it).

a stupid question

what kind of re-glazeing are you talking about??
please clarify this for me...

its fiberglass and they reglazed it like you would do
a car body that has damage??? correct??

if it were professionally done like this,
its ok with fibergalss jellcoating ect.. and the fibreglass patchwork...

that will last forever

--------------------------------

now the stupid queston

Surely you do not mean the type of
reglazeing that is like an egg shell enamel that is put
on cast iron tubs and sinks??? Its used all over and usually
last only about two years before trouble starts..
and thats on a cast iron surface...

It certanly wont work on fibergalss because the base of
the fibergalss has a tendency to give and move a little
.
I have seen the results. of some pretty half-assed jobs
where someone actually re-glazed a fibergalss tub with
something that should have only gone on cast iron. You could peel
off the egg shell enamel in large chunks...

So tell me thats a stupid question, , its ok.

But I would get this clarified with your CHEESEY biulder
before you decide what to do....

its probably best to just give some
plumber the business anyway...
and Error on the side of caution.

I'm with Master Mark on this one! If it is fiberglass and they are doing a regular fiberglass repair then that is fine. That is done all the time and you won't or shouldn't be able tell when they are done. If it is reglazing a cast iron tub I wouldn't except that unless it was done by someone certified by the tub maker and comes with a warranty that meets or exceeds the orginal.
