I have a neo-angle shower with a coated masonite shower panel that got scratched a few years ago. While I was cleaning the shower, the panel fell apart. Apparently moisture got in through the crack and turned the masonite to mush. I am now preparing to replace the panels with solid plastic panels. What is the best adhesive to use for this? Also, I was wondering how I can put pressure against the whole panel while the adhesive dries. When I installed the original panels there were a few places where the panel did not stick very well. I would like to avoid my past mistakes.

The manufacturer of your panels will recommend an adhesive. One type is Liquid Nails Tub Surround (NOT regular liquid nails). The adhesive will have instructions for spreading ; and will probably recommend the technique where you apply the adhesive and assemble the panel. THEN, the panel is pulled of and held for a period of time. It now develops tack so when you put it back in place and roll it with a laminate roller, it stays put.

Again, it is important to use an adhesive compatible with your plastic, so check the instructions.

WARNING about liquid nails

DO NOT USE LIQUID NAILS on plastic tub panels...
-----------------------------------------

even the stuff that they claim they make for tub surrounds

seems to make warps in the plastic....

it takes a few days to happen but suddenly

you begin to see bubbles comming through the plastic ,

wherever you spread the liquid nails. If you put it up

in lines , then the plastic warps in lines along the same path..

if you spread it out it seems to bubble everywhere.

It aint funny. when you complete what you think is a nice job

only to see it self-destruct overnight, and its not a pretty site when

the customer expects you to take it all down and do it again...

I gave a lady back her money once and told her to just keep it as
as a gift rather than spend probably two days re-doing the whole thing.
Its still functional, but just dont look good.

I have tried a few other types of sealants and I have fouind that

the DAP ALEX that comes in the clear tubes is the absolute

best you can use... Possibly a tube of clear Dap silicone for the

edjes to make them more water proof.....

that is the best way to proceed.
