Adding a shower to an existing jetted tub

Hi, I can no longer share a bathroom with my kids, its impossible. I have a big jetted tub downstairs, the faucet is on the side of the tub facing out, and tile is around the tub, all of it was poorly installed, the plumbing and everything works good, but they did a bad tile job. I want to add a shower to it, is this possible with not a lot of expense. Thank you, Jodie

If it is a drop-in tub setting on a platform, unless you do with something like a circular or oval shower curtainrod, there'd be no way to contain the spray. Then, you'd need some way to plumb water to the showerhead. Depending on the valve, you may be able to replace the tub spout with a divertor type to activate a showerhead, but need more info to tell. It probably won't be easy, but you might get lucky; just can't tell from here.

You will have to remove tile so you can get access to the plumbing piping and install a diverter valve, then either pipe to a wall shower, or install a hand held on the tub rim. You may have to raise the tile around the tub so it fits over the rim of the tub and the water splash can drain properly.
