I have a Toto 1.6 gpf two piece toilet, elongated bowl, but I do not know the model. Flushing requires the handle to be held down for about 6 seconds. Otherwise the flapper just closes and the toilet does not flush. From reading this forum I gather that is not the way it should operate.

Since the fill valve and flapper look pretty dirty/corroded, I am just thinking about replacing both of them to upgrade the innards and restore proper flush operation, and hopefully not have to mess with it again for some time.

The present fill valve is a 1B1 Master Mark III. What brand/model fill valve and flapper would you recommend for my Toto? I see many good comments about the Fluidmaster 400A. Will it work for the Toto?

If you need to know the model of my toilet - how do I determine that?

If you have the builder grade TOTO with 2" universal flapper, then it may be that whoever replaced the original flapper used a replacement and didn't cut the part off that goes on the overflow tube.

When replacing the flapper, make sure it swings freely on the posts.
You may have to trim off some of it with a scissors.

Any generic fill valve should work, either the Fluidmaster or the Korky.

Looking inside the Toto ST703 tank for the builder grade model.

Thanks Terry for your reply-

Since my first post I have been looking at pictures of the Totos. So even though my toilet looks on the outside like a Drake, are you saying it may be a cheaper model with a smaller drain hole?

When measuring to determine if I have a 2" drain hole, is the measurement taken as the inside diameter of the flapper seat hole? Because if I were to remove the seal and gasket, etc. the hole would be somewhat larger. I just do not know where the measurement is taken.
