Is there any head loss ( pressure drop/loss) when water runs through a check valve(back-flow preventor)? thanks

THere is always a little bit just because of the design of the device. How much depends on WHICH type you are asking about.

Then, which type of check valve is least pressure drop? thanks

Check valve and "backflow preventer" can be the same thing, or they can be vastly different. What are you using it for? A swing check has the least resistance and the highest failure rate.
