I have a 3 year old 1.5 HP waterwell. A 230V Quick Disconnect Control Box for 3-Wire is installed with a Square D 9013FSG switch. The pump continues to power off. It may stay on for 10 minutes or 3 hours. Then I have to hit the reset button underneath the control box. When I do, it sparks like there is a short. Is this switch or the capacitor or somthing else that needs to be replaced???

It may be a problem with the control box, or it could be in the motor. Make sure the control box is good before you work on the pump. Does this pump cycle on and off a lot during normal use?

The only reason it would spark, is a short or a bad connection.
Turn the power off first, then make sure all wires are tight, and there are no lose connections within the box.

Look at the two terminals on the capacitor, if one or both look like it has black stuff or a white to gray substance around them. The capacitor should be replaced.
