Moving Cast Iron stack

We recently purchased a house in Massachuetts. It was built around 1930, most if not all of the pipes are cast iron, no pvc. One of our projects is moving the stack 2 ft to the left, and swapping places with the toilet and vanity sink on the second floor. We are doing this because the stack is pretty much blocking the entrance to the kitchen. We have to go around the wall covering the stack by going up two steps and down two steps. Here are what we are planning to do:

-Remove existing sink and toilet
-Move the toilet about 3 ft to the left with a new flange and 4" PVC pipe
-Put in new 2" PVC pipe for the vanity sink, about 3 ft to the right
-Make sure the CI pipe is supported
-Cut the CI pipe section on the first and second floor
-Put in a new 4" PVC (2 ft from the original spot)
-Put in insulation as sound barrier (living room is right under the 2nd floor bathroom)
-Connect the new PVC pipe to the CI pipe in the attic (instead of drillng a new hole, the connection will look like an inversed "L")

Would this work? Any problems? Suggestions? Can we connect the PVC pipe to the stack at a right angle?

FIrst, MA is very strict about homeowners doing plumbing work...I think you'll need a plumber.

Second, many places won't let you insert pvc between CI sections...the weight can crush the stuff. You may have to remove the CI above to the point where you want to replace. The easiest way to connect CI to PVC is with a no-hub connector - this is a reinforced neoprene sleeve with a metal jacket and tightens with hose clamps.

Third, putting a jog in the stack can be done, but will take up more room than you want since you shouldn't use 90's to make the jog. There's a limit on how much change of direction you can have (not sure of the limit).

Putting pvc between cast iron is not the best idea. What is a jog?

If you are going to move the whole thing over, no problem. A jog is like adding a C or L shaped offset to the pipe.

You will need a licensed plumber in Mass to do that work.

MA requires a plumber, no-one can do their own plumbing
I know one person who did & the inspector made them rip it all out then hire a plumber to redo

You can describe HOW you plan to do it all you want to, but what counts is HOW you actually do it, and that is difficult to follow with a convoluted description of the planned work.
