I am building a walk in shower. We are going to tile up the entire walls and the floor. For the walls should I drywall with green board then use cement board over the top of that? Or just use cement board over the studs?

Thanks

There are lots of ways to skin this cat, but Jimbo has you pointed in the right direction. There are alternatives that work well...two things, check out the Kerdi shower system at www.schluter.com and go over to wwwjohnbridge.com for help with your tiled shower using either conventional methods or Kerdi (and others).

Always follow local code for insulation and vapour proofing needs. Never use drywall in a shower build unless your looking to build it as cheaply as possible. I know some companies promote the use of drywall but I think this is to offset the cost of their membranes.

Concrete Board - WonderBoard Lite my favourite.

Good Luck.
