    Default metal studs

Well, I am almost finished framing the outside walls.

Soon, I will need to start framing around metal joists and other obstructions.

Can I use the narrow metal studs to make soffits?

yes. There are perfect for that purpose. I use 2x2 metal studs for soffits all the time. Support them nicely though or use track whick is sturdier.

If you get creative, there is a whole lot you can do with metal studs and tracks. Everytime I see someone different working with the material, they are always doing something with the track that I haven't seen before. It's pretty amazing.

Probably more people know them as zippy screws.
