The general theme of this thread: https://terrylove.com/forums/showthread.php?t=27667 is that if any appliance trips a GFCI, then that appliance is suspect defective (if gfci checks ok). Question: what if the manufacturer specifically states in the user manual that the appliance should not be used on a circuit that is GFCI protected? I've a treadmill that we use in the garage where of course gfci is required; it intermittently trips the gfci outlet. No big deal, it's not that often (once a week) and we simply reset it. Should the treadmill be thought of as defective? Are there times concerning an inductive load that a certain amount of leakage to ground is acceptable? Thoughts ..
