If using a home run system with pex are individual shutoffs still required at each fixture if the manifold is easily accessable? What if a flow through manifold is used to connect say a sink and toilet on the same supply line?
Thanks.

Shutoffs are still required at the fixture. Manifold systems must be properly engineered for flow also. There are some very specific codes and requirements to installing home run systems.

manifold

IF the manifold has individual valves for each connection AND it is properly labled then the fixture stops are not required. BUT this also means that the manifold is ALWAYS accessible, usually in an cabinet. Having an accessible manifold without valves does not provide any means of isolating a fixture so it would still require the stops at the fixture.

HJ, I can't find that in the code. Not saying it ain't, just can't find the section. Are we looking at IPC or UPC?

stops

The valve at the manifold satisfies the requirement for individual shutoffs. ALL of the installations in this area with manifold valves have the tubing run directly out of the wall and to the faucets.
