I neeed a new bathroom faucet to replace a 28 year old Delta that had the connection to the popup rust out. I'm considering either another Delta or an American Standard. For some reason the American Standards are cheaper line for line at online sellers. They have some very deep discounts. Is there a reason for this?

faucet

One reason I can see for a deep discount is that I would almost NEVER buy an American Standard faucet, unless cost were the overriding factor for the customer.

And Buicks are going to be made and shipped from China. The design is more important than where they are made.

I'll remember that the next time only the country of origin is brought up in a discussion.

There is no reason quality products can not be made in China, Mexico, India, or any other country. What is needed is quality control standards. If you can recall, at one time "Made in Japan" was the mark of garbage. Today, Japan produces products that of top of the line. I believe China is beginning to see the light although many of their products are still worthless, some are decent. Know which is good and which is not is the problem. Toto toilets are made in numerous countries yet their quality control assures the buyer that no matter the country of manufacture, the product will meet the standard. Unfortunately, some US companies have outsourced their production without the quality control standards. They are living on their past reputations which were well earned 30 or 40 years ago, but today is a joke. Stay with Delta faucets, they still have the quality.

If you think your American car was made entirely in America, you are smoking some funny cigarettes. Fords have "hecho in Mexico" parts all over them, and EVERY car has "foreign" parts somewhere in it. That's assuming the car was even assembled in Americal. Some Chrysler mini-vans are put together in Canada, so they come with "daytime running lights" instead of the "on demand" automatic ones.

Responding to this statement;

I'll remember that the next time only the country of origin is brought up in a discussion.

What does that have to do with cars?

I'm pointing out what Gary Swart has put into more words - That just because something is made in China or elsewhere doesn't mean the quality is poor. A lot of responses on this board bad mouths things made in China vs bad mouthing the companies that go to China for manufacturing and don't follow through with QA checks and procedures.

BTW, I just returned from the 'orange big box' hw store and took at look at 5 different Delta faucets being sold there, not within the same model line - 2 were kitchen faucets, 3 were bathroom faucets.

3 of them said "Made in China"
2 of them said "assembled in the USA from foreign and domestic components"

So Delta is still making faucets in China and sourcing components from other countries.

I was wondering where you made this leap to think that I own an American car and just realized that because my username is Probedude, you must think I own a Ford Probe.

Nope. My nickname is because I used to run, program and set up wafer probe test stations for a semiconductor wafer fab.
