That's why it's so silly. You can't really define what makes an "assault" rifle. It's people who know nothing about guns, reacting to how it looks.

Besides, the fed has no place regulating firearms, that's a state, or maybe city jurisdiction.

And the legal/constitutional basis for private firearms, is all about their military potential - militias - not recreational or hunting use. If anything, they can regulate everything BUT "assault weapons".

I guess you don't understand that that is still their intention...

I honestly think "they" are a minority, even within the dem party, at this point.

I also think the current admin's too politically savy, or pragmatic, to want to open up that can of worms. Especially when the prez has gone on record, repeatedly, that the fed has no jurisdiction? I doubt they'll want to waste political capital on this one.

I could be wrong - like I said, if they bring it up again, I'll be opposing it.

The ammo-laser-ID thing, is much more on my mind, currently. Talk about stupid & impractical? But it seems to be getting traction.

Apparently Holder wants to bring it back. Not right away, but he said the other day, that it was one of Obama's campaign promises? I don't remember that. I remember looking for it, all I could find was O saying it was a State or local issue, not federal. ???
