Get rid of the in line filter in front of the tank. It serves no purpose except to restrict the water trying to get to the switch and tank. This could be the reason you blew the pitless apart also.

Ok, but this Well has been going 10 years with that exact setup... Why such a dramatic turn of events now do you think?

    Default Brass air fittings

Now that is a lot of brass air fittings http://www.***********.com/subpages/airfitting_1.htm there is just about every type
of air fitting that you could want. Wholesale prices too. I guess these could be used as small water pipe fitting also. I
used some of the parts to make my babington wvo burner.

Having a filter in front of a tank and pressure switch is a very bad idea. Just because it was that way for ten years doesn't make it right.

I don't know what caused the problem beyond the fact that ten years of mineral accumulation on pipes can sure plug one of those junkie filters in a big hurry.
