-Lever type pitless adapter -o-ring seal missing -no water pressure just a trickle -we pulled pitless adapter replaced seal now we can't get it sealed again can't find inlet to seal...husband was messing with it and droped a small wrench down well and now we can't pull the pump up...pump sits 125' below surface, freezing cold in Canada - Question is: Is there a trick to getting this type of adapter to seal again - and does anyone have anything at all that could help us fix this problem...sorry newbies, came from Calgary, our first time on well system!

If the seal needs to be replaced the unit has to come out of the well casing. The only other way to do it would be to dig it up and install a new one in the casing.

Can anyone explain what a "lever type" pitless adapter is? I'm only familiar with the wedge type.

Some pitless adapters have a release lever, which usually has a cable attached. Pull on the cable and the pitless will release. Dropping a wrench down the well is the big problem. Ever heard the old saying "somebody threw a wrench in mechanism". A 4" submersible motor in 4" or 5" casing is a tight fit. That wrench will wedge itself against the side of the pump and something is probably going to break when you pull on it hard enough. You may even have to drill a new well. One of the first rules for a pump installer is to never drop anything in the well.

Valveman is right!

Dropping a wrench in a well is a no no! I can't think of a solution to this situation because the pump needs to be removed from the well before any repairs can be done to the pitless adapter whatever the make.
