I have a basement house pump and well. Today I heard a sound coming from it today a bit like a toilet flushing. I went into the basement room, there was water on the ground and also water on the walls. I can only guess this came from the pump/well. Yesterday we had our first snow settle and seems a bit of a coincedence! Any suggestions?

You have a leak...unless there is cold air infiltrating the pump room area in sufficient quantities to freeze and burst something, the fact that it snowed has nothing to do with anything...
