We have rusty hot water. The water is from a well. The cold side is clear. We have replaced the hot water tank. The plumbing is all copper.could the pressure tank be contaminated? What should I try to clear this up. We use 'red out' mortons water softner salt. We also have a charcoal filter as well as a regular softner. Thanks form any help.

If it is really rust, and it is really only in the hot water, then it must be coming from the water heater or piping between the water heater and the faucet. Even a single iron pipe nipple can cause rust in the system.

If it were coming from the pressure tank, it would affect the cold water also.
