    You've got to do the math on the relative fuel costs. When I lived in Upstate NY with high electric rates I bought an expensive direct fired oil hot water heater and it paid for itself in less than two years. But where I live now I can't justify the cost.

    It is the demand for them that makes them high.

    Looks like I'll be getting the Richmond 6g40pvw OR 6g50pvw. They were $659 and $739 I think. I found it odd there was nothing on Google for those part numbers though.

    Or should I go for the AO Smith for $818? Seems like there have been lots of complaints about them the past few years (though I don't know if that also applies to the power vent version).

    Or I could drive the 75 minutes to Indy and get the Rheem Mark mentioned for ~$800. Where was that from Mark and will they sell to consumers? I may be over picking up the new furnace next week.
