The shower pull on our tub spout has broken off. We would like to replace the spout, but it doesn't attach the way modern ones do. Instead of screwing directly onto a pipe, it screws onto a plate attached to the pipe. The spout has threads directly on it that screw onto this plate. We have tried removing the plate, it won't budge. Would really like to avoid completely repiping. Is there some kind of adaptor or some other trick for making a new spout fit? Or is there some way to repair the old spout? Or find another? We have searched the old plumbing stores where we live and talked to several old plumbers. Have also searched the web to no avail. Open to other places to look/sites to search or ANY ideas at all! I can't figure out how to put pics on this post, so here's a link to pics of the spout (it's a Crane, btw) and the plate it screws into:

Thanks!

You're not going to find that one very easily...

Looks like a Hen's Tooth model # fugedaboudit...

Get a contemporary spout and either replumb it your self or, have a plumber do it...

Dependent on your abilities...

spout

The good news is that a spout that old had to screw on to a pipe. The bad news is that you will NEVER find a spout that fits those threads, so you have to unscrew that piece and attach a new spout. It is not an adapter, however, it is the joint where the two pieces of the spout were put together.
