First, thanks for any thoughts on this. My son bought a condo and his shower mostly produces cold water, even though we adjusted the stop on the mixing valve. I wondered if it was simply debris inside, but the probable obvious course is to simply replace this valve, except there is nothing to identify the type it is. I have attached two photos of the outside handle and the plastic valve. Any ideas? The condo was built in 1988 if this helps at all. While I have your attention, I'd also like to ask about those shut off screws to isolate this valve. I have never fooled with these before. Anything I should know? They probably have not been touched in 20 years. And am I correct, use large channel locks to remove the copper ring to remove the valve itself?
Thanks for anyone's help.
