Hi all,

Can you tell me if it is okay to mix brass fittings with galvanized iron pipe? Also, what type of valve is recommended for a branch line to a outside faucet...globe valve or gate?

Thanks

If you could not mix brass and steel, there would be no way to install valves in the plumbing system. Globe valves seal tighter, but create resistance, but can come with a drain port to empty the water from the pipe. Gate valves are full flow, but do not always shut off tightly once they have been installed for a while. Ball valves are better and there are a few with the drain ports for use in your application.
