possible to increase water pressure?

House water pressure OK, but looking to increase it if possible. Currently Pumptrol settings at 30/50, water tank pressure at 27. Goulds Jet pump 1/2 HP. Can this type of jet pump handle a setting of 40/60 & increased water tank pressure to 38? Will I get any increase in shower pressure?

It depends on which 1/2 HP shallow well jet pump you have.

If you have the J5S it probably won't work reliably at 40/60.

If you have the J5SH it will work at 40/60.

If you look at the nozzle and venturi part numbers in the table at the link you will see what the difference is. If you have the J5S you can substitute the nozzle and venturi for the J5SH and get the J5SH performance. The rest of the parts are the same.

The Model # on my Goulds is J05N , so I'm not sure which model (J5S, J5SH) it compares to, if at all.

The pump is a J05; the N stands for "Not Tank Mounted".

The pump is obsolete but you can still get the required nozzle and venturi.

The parts list at the link says the high pressure nozzle is AN019 and the venturi is AD3528.

You could try increasing the pressure setting, or just jumper the switch and see how high it will go; but don't run it too long at that condition. You could have the high pressure parts in the pump.

You will get lower flow with the higher pressure parts.
