Hi,

I'm trying to decide what water softener to put in my house. Right now I'm deciding between these two.

Fleck 5600SXT $506 shipped

Aqua System Smart Choice with a CLACK valve $1000

I like the Aqua System better, but I don't think it's worth double the money. What is your opinion? Also, I'm thinking about installing a whole hose water filter after the softener, is that a reasonable thing to do? Also, i'm open to other suggestions.

Thanks,
Ryan

You are comparing two very different control valves. The 5600 does not compare very well to the Clack, the 5600 is a 3/4" valve and the Clack is a 1" with many features the 5600 doesn't have. And the Clack you are looking at is not a standard Clack. Nor is the tank it attaches to. And the one Mark suggests is a day timer while the 5600 and the other Clack is metered/demand regenerated.

Compare my Clack to the others

What do you want the "whole house filter" after the softener to remove?
