Hi,
How many times do you need to wrap teflon tape around a screw thread to make sure that it doesn't leak?
Thanks
Teflon tape is not normaly used on screws...it is normaly used on pipe threads.
Sorry, that's what I meant, a pipe thread
I use 4-6 wraps depending on the thread depth which changes due to China imported junk.
Then after its all wrapped up I slather a little teflon paste on it.
Just for good luck!
I always use the yellow tape, which is thick enough to do some good! and 1½ to 2 wraps is sufficient. The super thin white tape...I guess you need more, but too much tape is not always a good thing.
Metal threads are not too critical because they will absorb the stress of over taping. PVC threads, however, will crack if you use more than 2 or 3 layers of tape.
