Default Moving Water Meter from Horizontal to Vertical Position

on well water... rearranging furnance area and need to re-position the water meter from a horizontal position (neer floor) to vertical position (parallel to wall)... any potential problems with the water meter being in a vertical position...?

You will want the meter in the horizontal position. Look for the size of the meter and spread and see if you can purchase a Meter Horn from a local (Plumbing supply store) Meters are labled 1-4. Make sure you put a full flow ball valve before and after meter.

Only problem is that most manufacturers don't certify the accuracy of meter in the vertical flow position. If some water utility is collecting money based on the meter they won't want you changing it, which usually involves breaking the seal.

There is an assembly called a "meter horn" or "meter resetter" that allows the meter to be installed horizontally in a vertical pipe run. Most utilities have them or you can buy one from USABLUEBOOK. https://usabluebook-onramp.com/cgi-b...resetter&class=

There is also one called a meter insetter.
