I have just installed several underground sprinklers that use normal garden hose with a quick connect to the sprinkler. I have used these sprinklers and they seem to work well. My question is: Is there any multi station sprinkler timers that garden hoses can be directly attached to?

The timer operates valves. I have not seen any valves that were made to accomodate hose fittings but you could certainly adapt some. The valves typically have female threads of 3/4" or 1" IPS.
