This is driving us crazy!!!! Every thing is above ground. We had a myers HJ jet pump, single drop into the well. Installed to new well 10 years ago. 10 yrs no problems.
About six months ago the pump stopped holding pressure (see below) we called a well plumbing company we were told the foot valve was bad $500.00 yep we paid got a new one, problem still exists.
Called well people back said bladder tank bad. We said ok went and bought everything brand new and started over. New pump, HJ Myers jet pump 1horse with regulator attached to the pump, new bladder tank all new piping.
We couldnt remember were the check valve was located in the original set up and then told we didnt need it so left it out.
Well guy back still problem this is a new well guy he says bad FOOT VALVE LOL...........
SO HERE IT IS when the pump is not running the pressure is constantly falling when gets to 25 pump kicks on comes up to 55 pounds in 1 min 15 secs. Pressure starts fallin in 3 minutes the pump kicks on again. sounds like water is running back into the well wont hold pressure can someone help? PLEASE!!!!
1. should we put the check valve back in and if so how many were in the plumbing should we locate it /them?
2. Could the foot valve really be bad again 2 months. We dont think it was ever bad the problem was never fixed with the new one.
3. Should the water run back down the well casing? To prime the pump we always have to fill the well casing first then the pump primes easily.

Has anyone mentioned the pipe feeding the Pump from the Well? Has anyone turned off your main valve to see if the water is in fact going back to the Well instead of to the house plumbing?
I don't understand filling the Well CAsing to prime the Pump.
Did anyone change the Pipe in the Well along with the Foot Valve (which very rarely goes bad)?
