If I am soldering with Mapp gas and the torch has started making a loud hissing noise (almost like a screeching) and periodically blossoms into an orange flame plume, should I:
1. replace the tank or
2. replace the torch?

Will be doing a lot of soldering tomorrow, would appreciate any advice if I am in danger of blowing my face off.....

1. Is the torch itself rated for MAPP?
2. Is the tank almost empty?
3. Are you keeping the tank close to vertical? If you tip a tank horizontal or upside down, you get liquid, not gas vapor, which will sputter the flame.

Torch is rated for MAPP.

Still liquid sloshing around in it. Last one just failed to light when it was out.

Flame plume happened while it was vertical.

I'm buying another. Why take chances with my face?
